Food crops support a growing global population of over 7 billion yet pests and diseases destroy a third of crops each year (equivalent to a billion tonnes) even before harvest. Prof Ian Toth will discuss the challenges of reducing crop losses while protecting the planet from increasing agricultural pressures and will consider the question ‘are these two challenges compatible?’
